ICIE facilitates efforts in establishing Russia-Korea shipbuilding factory in Russian Far East

A number of meetings between the Slavjanka Shipyard Company, Ltd and a South Korean delegation from the company HK Co., Ltd have been held in Vladivostok with assistance from the ICIE (International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Congress) Representative Office in the Asia-Pacific region.

HK Co., Ltd specializes in shipbuilding and plans to establish a joint shipbuilding enterprise, which will utilize Korean technologies, with a Russian company in Russia’s Far East region, as part of an initiative to develop bilateral ties between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea. To begin work on this project, the delegation headed by professor Lee Sung Yong, the President of the Far East Future Economic Forum, met with the management of the Slavjanka Shipyard Company, Ltd, with the Head of the ICIE Representative Office in the Asia Pacific region in attendance, to discuss terms and conditions of a bilateral partnership agreement on shipbuilding-related aspects, including various means of collaboration, and amounts of equipment and investment required to implement this project. The joint enterprise is scheduled to be built in Slavjanka’s dockyard in Primorsky Krai.

The ICIE Representative Office in Primorsky Krai will continue to provide assistance to the sides involved, which is essential for a faster implementation of this project and the conclusion of the agreement on establishing the joint enterprise as soon as possible.
